The long stretch of concrete known as Old Klang Road or Jalan Klang Lama is one of the oldest, as well as the first, major road in Klang Valley, Malaysia, lying just east of the Kuala Lumpur town centre. Historically, it is one of the most significant roads ever constructed in the Klang Valley. It was constructed by the Federation of Malaya government from 1956 to 1959 and was opened on 14 January 1959. Many decades ago, it was the only link between Kuala Lumpur and Port Klang, which is on the coastline. That role has now been surpassed by other major highways; however, Old Klang Road is still an important route for transport and communication.

Old Klang Road is known for being a property hotspot. The 11 km stretch along Old Klang Road is lined mostly by residential areas. The area is experiencing a spurt in development with many new high-rise residential projects coming up lately.

1. The centre of Greater KL

Greater KL is expected to be the home of up to 10 million people by 2020. This means more businesses and more job opportunities in the Klang Valley. Old Klang road gives you easy access to prime amenities and facilities. Nowhere else has such a great balance of residential and commercial developments. You have easy access to facilities like Mid Valley City, not to mention access to a number of government schools, an international school, institutions of higher education, hotels, shopping complexes, government institutions and a wide choice of eateries, with a fine mix of the traditional and modern, to suit every palate; such as traditional Chinese Kopitiam restaurants, fusion cafes, large restaurants, steamboat restaurants and more.

 

4. A mature and self integrated township

Like we mentioned in the previous point, Old Klang Road is filled with corporate facilities, school, hotels and more. Being one of the oldest roads in Klang Valley, the area has evolved into a mature and self-sufficient township with a well-integrated public transportation system in the form of bus routes and train services.

 

5. Growth on the horizon

Old Klang Road continues to evolve even now. The development of the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) towers has served to increase the interest of property investors and bring in more people looking for job opportunities. There is also the prospect of better transportation to the upcoming Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) 2 line, via the Kuchai Lama station, adding to the areas transportation network. All of these factors serve to potentially increase capital appreciation and rental yield in the area.
